Home Canned Goods
Canned Goods Vendors: There are two categories in the State of Tennessee dealing with canned goods. The first is called the canning of non-potentially hazardous foods and the second is canning of potentially hazardous foods. Your business may include other sales outside of GFM. Those wishing to sell at the Greeneville Farmers Market dealing with non-potentially hazardous foods (jams, jellies, candies, and bread) (Domestic Kitchen) need to comply with the rules and laws of the Tennessee Department of Agriculture. Currently according to TDA you may sell jams, jellies, and baked goods without certification as long as you have a sign posted on your table, stating that your products were made in a home that is NOT licensed or Certified AND if any food allergins such as peanuts were in the area where your food was processed. You will need to complete a one day Tennessee Food Safety Certification Course. All foods will also need to be properly labeled.
