Fresh Produce does not require a license, as long as you don't process it in any way. Just needs to be displayed 6 inches off the ground.
Eggs NO LONGER require a $50.00 license fee paid to the State of Tennessee. AS LONG AS YOU HAVE UNDER 3000 CHICKENS. Eggs must be sold in new cartons with proper labeling. We have posted the current laws governing farmers markets.
Please read the new laws in their entirety. You may still have to have a certified kitchen for some of the products. If you have any questions about the laws, call State Representative Jeremy Faison's office at 1-800-449-8366 Ext. 16871 and ask him to help change the current laws or Email Jeremy Faison.
If you meet all the state requirements, We will be thrilled to have you sell your wares at the market.
We have spaces for Produce Vendors, set up is $8.00, with bathrooms. Craft Vendors, set up is $8.00 per set up.
Non-Hazardous Foods Law
The TN code is on the side of the producer as long as they own less than 3k chickens and are only selling eggs their flock produced directly to the consumer. Exceptions: No person shall buy, sell, trade, traffic or process eggs in this state without first having made application for and obtained a license as required by this chapter, with the following exceptions:
Bill Summary for: *HB 1700/SB 1851 6/7/2011
This bill specifies that a person who sells less than 30 dozen eggs a week produced by their own flocks is not required to wash or grade their eggs. The person's name and address must be included on cartons containing the eggs and must also include the words "Ungraded Eggs." Cartons must be clean, unbroken and free of foreign odor.
ON MAY 18, 2011, THE SENATE ADOPTED AMENDMENT #1 AND PASSED SENATE BILL 1851, AS AMENDED.
AMENDMENT #1 rewrites this bill to authorize persons who are licensed under present law, offer, or expose for sale, or have in the person's possession for sale, all eggs produced by the person unless limited otherwise by federal law.
