Music at the Market

Picture
Greeneville Farmers Market is very fortunate to have Kevin Amburgey volunteering with us this year. Kevin has lots of experience with Lighting and Sound for several big name bands. He has offered his time and talents to us this year, providing equipment, lighting, music, and performers for your entertainment this season. Please come by and meet Kevin and thank him for his efforts on behalf of the market.

COMING JUNE 29, 2013  "EMPTY BOTTLE STRING BAND"

Picture
They specialize in playing toe-tapping old-time string band music and are known for their tight harmonies, upbeat fiddle tunes, and feel-good music that makes people want to get up and dance. The Empty Bottle String Band originally formed to play a one-time stint at a local farmers market, but have already reached new heights in popularity all over east Tennessee and southwest Virginia, appearing regionally at Bristol’s Rhythm & Roots Reunion, the nationally broadcast tv show Song of the Mountains on PBS, the WDVX Blue Plate Special, WETS Studio One, Jonesborrough Days, Bristol’s Pickin’ Porch, and the Southwest Virginia Museum. This old-time string band is composed of energetic and artistic multi-instrumentalists and singers who met in the East Tennessee State University Bluegrass, Old-Time, and Country Music Studies program. They are dedicated to the preservation and performance of traditional Appalachian songs, ballads, and tunes and will treat the audience to fresh interpretations of standards in the old-time repertoire as well as lesser known songs they've dug up from the archives. Bring a chair and plan on spending a few hours, doing some toe tapping with this fine group of performers.

Tusculum College 3 piece Jazz Band to Perform
Three members of the Tusculum College Jazz Band Performed for us several times at the market this last season. We wish to thank them for offering their time and talents.

John Stallings Performed again this last Season and it was a pleasure to have him here. We look forward to his performance next season at the market.

Picture
John will once again grace us with his great country sounds. We will also get to hear some of his new releases.  Bring a chair and a donation (John Donates his time to the market) to help cover his expenses. You will certainly enjoy his music.
