"THE" Teens from Rural Resouces

Picture
Come and join us at the Greeneville Farmer's Market as "THE" Group, teens involved in the Farm and Food Teen Training Program at Rural Resources, shares their knowledge and skills in giving food demonstrations throughout the season. These teens spent last year on the farm learning how to grow fresh produce and farming techniques. They are now spending this year working with local chefs and the extension service to learn gourmet and cooking skills. These demonstrations allow them the opportunity to put their knowledge to the test and pass on what they have learned to others. We will be out three different Saturdays this year to increase your taste buds, and hopefully, knowledge of the food available at the farmers market. The first one is scheduled for Saturday, May 18, 2013. We will also be out Saturday, June 29, 2013, for your 4th of July party, and Saturday, August 24, 2013. The demonstrations will begin at 9 a.m. and will be given on the hour with the last one at 12 p.m. Each food demonstration will highlight produce that is in season and available at the market that day. Recipes and directions will be available and each dish will be simple, tasteful, and easy to make. Samples will be given out after each demonstration for you taste buds.
